Bio

Louis J. Chaney graduated from high school with the desire to do God’s will wherever he called him.  He entered Letourneau College with his focus on becoming a missionary pilot. While there he was exposed to world-class Bible teaching, met some lifelong friends, and received his FAA private pilot’s license and FAA A&P license.  After serving as a summer intern with Wycliffe Bible Translators and working for a few years as an aircraft mechanic, his career took a major shift. He was introduced to YFC and began to volunteer with their Youth Guidance program.   It was there that he discovered his calling and for the past thirty years has served YFC in various roles. Locally, he has been a Campus Life director and now serves as our Ministries Director. Nationally, he serves on the YFC Council of Delegates, Southern States Regional Campus Life and the National Campus Life Leadership teams.

Louis is married to Janet, a third-grade teacher at Caldwell Academy.  They have two adult children, Kathryn and Christopher. They are members at Westover Church where Louis has served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

  • In Louis’ own words:

“Looking back at my life I can see how God used the death of my father when I was just eighteen to give me a sustaining passion to work with middle school students.  God has granted me a career that I would love to do in retirement. I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to partner with churches and like-minded organizations in the pursuit of developing authentic Christ-sharing relationships with lost students.  Each day I strive to live a balanced life as Jesus did as found in Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
